You can play like a maniac and be sucessful in some hands, but in the long run you will loose a lot of money.

The important things are not your own cards. Know your opponents, it's a not bad to loose some chips to get information on them. Pay attention!

As soon as you know them crazy things won't be that crazy. You can do whatever you want as long as you know what your opponent will do!

But vary your play, then you will trap your opponents. It is not that bad if a bluff goes wrong and you have to go to the showdown as long as you have enough chips left to take advantage of that! After your bluff you might be able to win some really big pots with the nuts, because they won't believe you - if they are bad they won't believe you any way - if they are good you have to play the nuts nearly exactly the way you played the bluff before and try to maximize the pot.

Some words to slow playing: It's one of the greatest things in poker, if played correctly. But part of slow playing is also laying down your cards, when it's obvious you are beat. The good thing about it: It did not cost you that much. And if it works there is a great potential in winning a big pot. But don't forget to protect your hand and get rid of the slow playing!
